MARKETING & PROMOTIONS MANAGER
Education and Experience
The ability to demonstrate self-initiative skills and the ability to show a level of business experience in the areas of public relations, organization, written and oral communications, public presentations. Decision-making initiative, analytical skills, creativity and an ability to work independently are required. Candidate must have the ability to manage programming and sales expectations to deliver promotions that accomplish programming and sales goals. A high school diploma is required, a college degree is preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.
Essential Functions
Candidate must have: organizational skills; ability give creative input to “capture the moment” promotions that take advantage of current trends and audience demand; ability to assist with public relations (including press releases); ability to deal comfortably and effectively with diverse groups, including media, public officials and business owners. The ability to represent Cumulus with public speaking, strong written and oral communications skills and to oversee street team staff members is necessary. A valid driver’s license, state mandated automobile insurance and acceptable driving record are required.
Typical Duties
• Receives supervision and direction from Program Director, Sales Manager(s) and Market Manager.
• Coordinates all aspects of promotions and events upon approval for all station events – including vehicles and equipment.
• Schedules and attends meetings with Market Manager, Director of Sales, Program Director and Account Executives to discuss promotion options for potential business and community events.
• Organizes and works as assigned during the work week of Sunday – Saturday (days or nights) as necessary to accomplish goals.
• Plans and executes assigned events, promotional activities and special projects, including those involving other radio stations events as needed.
• Maintains the station event calendar.
• Ensures that all on-air promotions have the proper paperwork and Cumulus legal approval, inclusive of adequate contest rules, contractual agreements and sponsorship agreements.
• Helps with the creativity of designing flyers, posters, brochures and printed materials.
• Trains, coordinates schedules for and works with Street Team assistants to ensure proper set-up and break-down of events.
• Schedules and coordinates all on-air talent appearances and live remotes to ensure that giveaways and broadcasts are properly and timed and executed.
• Organizes and accurately accounts for prize inventory.
• Prepares recaps of all events including timeline, promos, on-air activity, communication to staff and listeners, event specifics, location, logistics, results and station “credit” from listeners and advertisers.
• Works with on-air talent and sales staff to help sponsor’s message reach its full potential.
• Promote company events on-air.
• Look for additional opportunities where the station may grow in visibility, revenue and community service.
• Utilize internal equipment associate with the day-to-day tasks.
• Works on cross departmental tasks such as board operating, talk show producing, call screening as needed.
• Other marketing / promotional department duties as assigned by the Program Director.

NEWS TALK 630 WPRO & 99.7 FM REPORTER
Cumulus Media Providence is seeking an experienced reporter to cover local news of interest to Providence and Southern New England. The individual will be expected to break news on the radio, web and video streams. This will include writing and editing web stories and producing broadcast quality audio/ video packages. Also, the individual will be expected to build contacts in and around state agencies, government divisions, and cover crime and other news worthy stories. Knowledge of Providence, Southern New England, local political figures and local municipalities is essential. A minimum of three years of reporting experience at a major newspaper, broadcast outlet or wire service is preferred.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree required.
· Minimum of three years of journalism experience is preferred.
· Must possess poise under pressure and be able to meet tight deadlines, change and numerous other tasks
· Maintaining accuracy and details are critical to newscast
· Must be creative and enterprising, a team player with leadership qualities
· Must possess excellent copy editing skills
· Must have the ability to operate in the control room
· Strong work ethic, positive attitude and leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities a must
· Ability to work non-traditional hours, weekends & holidays
