Jay Buff was born, raised, and groomed right here in Rhode Island. A part of the on-air team since 2005, Jay graduated from Barrington High School in 2006, and in 2010 he received a B.A. in Radio and Audio from Emerson College in Boston. As a full-time student, Jay balanced weekend shifts on 92 PRO-FM with weekday shifts on WERS-FM Boston. He worked as an on-air personality for folk-based Music for the Independent Mind daytime programming, and at night as a regular host of Rockers - New England's #1 Source for Reggae, and as a fill-in host of 889@Nite - Real Hip Hop. Jay was a regular host and large fundraiser for WERS's biannual pledge drive, as well as the host of dozens of live music performances.
In 2010, Jay relocated to Los Angeles, taking a temporary transfer to Cumulus sister talk station KABC-AM Los Angeles as a nightly technical director for The John Phillips Show. Jay also worked at KABC as a weekend infomercial producer and technical director. At the same time, Jay worked daily as a full-time administrative assistant at KDAY-FM Los Angeles and KDEY-FM Ontario under the ownership of Magic Broadcasting, LLC. KDAY's Urban AC format gave Jay the opportunity to rub elbows with Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and Ice Cube.
In March 2011, Jay moved back to Rhode Island as Executive Producer of Giovanni and Kim in the Morning. "Working with Gio and Kim on PRO-FM is a dream-come-true," says the 25-year-old. "I've been a huge fan of radio all my life, and it's great to do what I love each and every day. It really makes the 4AM wake-up more bearable."
