Pink will do more than host this year’s Tony Awards. A new announcement confirmed that she will also perform as part of a tribute marking 30 years of Chicago’s current Broadway run.
The performance will celebrate the musical’s long life onstage. Chicago first opened in 1975, then returned to Broadway in 1996 in the revival that continues today. A press release noted that the production is now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.
Pink will be joined by Queen Latifah, who earned an Oscar nomination for playing Matron Mama Morton in the 2002 film version, along with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Adrienne Warren, Alex Newell, Julianne Hough, Whitney Leavitt, Dylan Mulvaney and others.
The appearance also connects with Pink’s recent move to New York City, where she has said she is supporting her daughter’s interest in Broadway. The Tony Awards air live on CBS on Sunday.
